The long game refers to your drives (shots off the tee) and fairway shots; everything short from the shots you make to obtain onto the green.
Every hole has a various difficulty degree, different par and distinctive hazards, so instructing you to use your Driver on every tee would be blatantly wrong.
This is some thing you will learn over time as you learn the numerous shots you make according to the club, the placement from the ball and your personal swing.
Generally speaking, the lower the club number, the longer and lower your ball will go. A 4-iron shot will travel long and low and will most likely roll, whereas a 9-iron shot will have much more loft and go less distance both in the air and on the ground.
The professionals on television make it look so easy; they consistently hit the ball long and straight and never miss-hit the ball making it dribble ten feet, or completely miss the ball.
Driving is very essential to the game, and numerous hours spent at the driving range will assist enhance your distance. There are few people that can argue with the fact that this is going to be one of the best years that the Phillies have had in a long time. While the past two seasons have been quite successful for the team, there are those that are sure beyond anything else that this is the year that they will win the World Series and begin their dynasty in baseball. There are several reasons as to why this will more than likely be the case. Just one look at the changes that were made in the off season will let you know that the team is onto something, and as a result, there will be a lot of success in the world of baseball this season.
By now everyone knows the big trade that was made during the off season with the Phillies, there is little doubt that this trade will not be one of the best moves that has been made in a long time as far as the team is concerned. Roy Halliday will be the key that adds a lot of power to the pitching rotation of the team this season, there is little arguing about the power that this player will have in the world of striking pitchers out at the plate.
There is no doubt that the addition of Halliday to the bullpen, has secured them a spot in the playoffs for sure. Many say just the addition of Halliday alone is reason enough that they will be repeating a trip to the World Series. There is also a line of closers that are able to get the job done on the mound as well. These closers will be vital in sealing a victory for the team on the field.
There is a lot of talk about the outfield for the team, there are few players on the team that think that the Phillies are going to have a bad season when it comes to playing the outfield, these players are going to be one of the best in the world at making the plays in the outfield that will get the runners out and keep the score on the board being very low. Unlike past years, there is no reason to doubt the power that the team will have in the outfield position when it comes to getting a player out at the base.
Now it is not a big secret that the Phillies have suffered when it comes to making the most out of an opportunity in the infield. There was a time when the plays that the guys made in the infield were barely noticeable, as many times the other team was able to score with little to no trouble at all. These issues have been addressed and as of late the guys are looking to actually be able to make the big plays in the infield and get runners out a lot more effectively.
When a batter is at bat, there will be a lot of pitchers that will have a difficult time in making sure that they are able to get the batter out. There is a lot of power that is in the teams lineup. This batting power will make the most out of their opportunities and will drive in quite a few home runs for the Phillies.
No matter the side of the team you fall on, there has to be a sense of respect that the fans of the team have to have, these fans will need to make sure that they are the true blue fans to the team. 2010 promises to be the best year yet for the Phillies, and the best is yet to come for this team.
