I was perusing Golf for Ladies the other day and wondered where are the ladies who wear the golf attire modeled in women’s golf magazines? I’ve never seen women, professionals included, who would dress in such expensive and outrageous clothes!
It’s simple to spend money outfitting yourself for golf. Hats, sunglasses, gloves, shirts, shorts, socks, windbreakers and shoes all add up quickly, even if you shop the sales. Add in equipment, bag and cart and you have to perform quite often to keep down the “CPU” – cost per use.
A single glossy advertisement showed a model in short shorts (like that’s allowed on courses!) that price $275, the Tse golf shirt ($595), jacket by Ralph Lauren ($185) and two-toned Utuser shoes ($425).
That comes as much as $1480; I could in no way hope to obtain the CPU on that outfit anywhere near a normal level in my lifetime! Do not get me wrong; I love clothes. I really adore shoes, but could never afford, or want, golf shoes that cost more than the national budget of some little countries.
If I were to wear a $1480 outfit to play golf, I would simply be too worried about getting dirty or perspiring to play a decent round.
Granted, you want comfortable shoes that don’t look like something your grandmother would wear, but you can easily find less expensive and fashionable shoes.
I have several really stylish golf outfits, none of them brand name. If I totaled the cost of all of them up it would not come up to the price of the Tse golf shirt. Personally, I’d rather have several stylish outfits and one outrageously priced one.
If I had been to put on a $1480 outfit to play golf, I would simply be too worried about getting dirty or perspiring to perform a decent round.

Golf swings are as exclusive as snowflakes, and about as tough to copy. Often the simplest golf swing is also the most successful at hitting the ball farther and straighter. Consistency is probably the single most significant aspect of achieving a lower handicap. We all know that it’s no secret that having a consistent swing is the key to having a great game. Everyone wants to have the perfect golf swing but is there really such a thing. No there isn’t really such a thing, that every player can be trained to use. The picture perfect golf swing is a personal thing, and is one that works, time and time again, to send the ball in the direction you intend it to go. Anytime that you can achieve this it could be described as perfect. There may or may not be such a thing as perfect, but if you build a repeatable swing you will learn to be consistent. You will only develop with practice, rather than playing, and when you are practicing this is the time to work on the mechanics of your golf swing. This is not to say that playing won’t help you improve, in fact playing with golfers that are superior to you will indeed help with your development, as long as you study what they do in certain situations and don’t get caught up in trying to outperform them. Structured practise time is critical to improving, by this I mean that a certain amount of time should be allocated to each facet of the game.
Fifty percent of practise time should be spent working on your short game, with 50% of that being spent on putting. The left over 50% ought to be spent on short irons and alternating your way through every second club until you reach the driver. Practise time should not be spent aimlessly pounding balls with your driver. Every shot should be struck as though there is something on the line. You should always be aiming at a specific target. You should perform a pre-shot routine and use it faithfully for every shot. A strong pre-shot routine will be your best friend when you are under the anxiety of competition.
Just bear in mind that the golf swing is an abnormal rotational movement, and you learn it through practice. First of all it is notable to point out that no training aid can replace constant and regular practice as that is fundamental to playing better and lowering your handicap. Remember to have some patience when learning, go to the range and practice without hitting any balls to start and after you have warmed upstart off by swinging at only 50% just to get the ball traveling in the direction you want.
