Stop Swaying In Your Golf Swing

An issue that a lot of beginners of golf encounter is the sway related with their golf swings. Balance and precision should be observed when executing the golf swing so that the ball is hit with the right amount of force and is lead towards the desired direction.

Experiencing a sway in the swing is a typical indication that you have poor control over weight shifting and rotational motion that will hurt the accuracy of the golf play. It also disrupts the needed timing to hit the ball ‘just right’.

Beginners of golf often have a hard time controlling their sway because they are not aware of the two essential movements needed in the ideal golf swing – the linear and rotational movement. It’s required to perform a combination of the two with good sequencing to accomplish the best golf swing.

One way on how not to sway in the golf swing is to be wary of shifting too much of one’s weight to the back foot as an individual won’t have the ability to bring the weight to the front to do the golf swing thus missing the necessary timing.

A more technical way on how not to sway in the golf swing is to chunk down the necessary elements of a golf swing and practice these through the various swing drills available, focusing on the areas that needs polishing. As soon as you’ve been convinced that all areas have been totally considered and practiced, it’s time to bring the elements back into one effective golf swing.

You may also learn by studying the swings of the expert players. Just tune into the next major golf tournament and record a few hours.

Then watch it back and study each golfer in turn. You’ll see that they all have slightly different techniques but one of them might suit your own game, so it’s well worth a few hours of your time.

3 Easy Hints For Improving Golf Swings

Improving their golf swing is something every golfer is trying to do. Getting the best score that you can is, after all, part of the fun of any game. Your golf swing is the main determining factor of your score. Getting a good swing will take work. Your golf swing will only improve with practice, like any other skill. You can improve your golf swing and game with the following tips.

You will need to keep your movements smooth throughout your whole swing. Most of the time, beginners think they need to use a violent swinging motion to hit the golf ball. They approach their swing as having multiple steps. Thinking of a single musical motion can help you improve your golf swing. The first beats would be the back swing; the middle section is your fore swing, and the final notes are the follow through. If you only use raw strength for your shots, they will go wild and you will have no control or accuracy. You’ll begin to see improvement when you approach your swing in a smooth and lazy manner.

You will also need to learn how to properly shift your weight throughout the different parts of the swing. You need to be aware of how to shift around your right knee, known as the grounding point. You will see improvement to your accuracy and distance when you learn to do this properly. This isn’t as simple as putting weight on first one foot and then the other. Talking to a pro at your local course is a good way to get help on how you should stand and shift during your swing.

Before you play any course, you need to remember to practice first. It’s a common misconception that what feels good to you one day, will feel good to you the next day. As with any sport, you need to take the time to warm up before hitting the course. Because there are variable elements when playing golf, warming up will allow you to make any needed adjustments to your stance and swing. Windy weather and other issues will require compensations and this is when you will figure out how do to so. You need to warm up your muscles before playing any sport and that includes golf. Taking practice swings at the driving range is the same as a runner stretching before a race.

There are many ways available to get improvement in your golf swing. To learn how to improve their swing, many beginners will pay for lessons. The primary goal of teaching proper form for a golf swing is common among many golf classes. Using these tips will allow you to work on your golf swing on your own.

Improving Your Golf Swing

In part I of my series, I let you know about the significant impact that making your golf swing simpler could have on accuracy and consistency. More specifically, reducing your weight shift back and away from the golf ball is your primary step to better consistency in your golf swing.

Correct weight shift forward and through the ball on impact can help you enhance your golf swing causing straighter balls with more distance.

In practice, this means less sliding through the ball and more swinging your weight around your body.

How to keep your leading shoulder closed through impact

If you are struggling with a golf slice, you’re most likely opening your leading shoulder through impact. This is a very common mistake made by golfers who are learning how to play golf.

Opening your shoulder during the impact zone makes it very hard for your club face to come through the ball in a square position. The most common result is contacting the ball before your clubface can get square causing the ball to be sliced.

Take a series of swings with your knees and feet held together is an efficient free golf swing tip that will definitely promote a more consistent clubface position at impact. Keep everything else the same making a normal golf swing.

Keeping your feet and knees together makes some things occur:

* It promotes a more even distribution of weight in your swing minimizing your ability to shift your weight backwards and allowing for your weight to turn around your body through impact.

* It supplies you with the opportunity to turn your attention on the relationship between your arms and your body through the swing.

Most golfers who slice the golf ball don’t let their arms start the downswing. Your arms should swing away from the body and shouldn’t move in concert with your shoulders. Lead with your arms to promote a more consistent ball striking.

The above free golf swing tip can be used on the practice range or the golf course itself. Keep in mind that you will likely hit the ball at 80% of your normal swing but will be rewarded by the consistency of your ball striking.

After you develop a rhythm using this practice drill, gradually go back to your normal stance.

Golf Fitness Works For Tiger Woods? Why Haven’t You Tried It?

How’s your golf game? Are you continually trying to improve your game but seeing no real results? Consistently practice but handicap never dropping, or even worse, heading up higher? Rest assured, you are not alone. Most golfers struggle with the same things you do.

Let’s cut to the chase. You have 3 choices to make to improve your game. Which will you choose?

You can go to the driving range and pound balls to work on the technical nature of the swing, trying to build an effortless and repeatable swing. The problem with this approach is that most golfers have no idea how to practice properly, yet it is the path chosen by the majority of golfers. Most go to the range because it seems to make sense that if you practice, practice and practice some more, you will improve. However, most recreational golfers go to the range with absolutely no plan in mind and no idea how to properly practice. They don’t observe what is working, what isn’t working and end up wasting time or actually even harming their game.

You can work on your mental game. It has been said again and again by every good golfer everywhere that the game is 90% mental and 10% technical. So what are you doing on the driving range? Are you spending any time learning how to play a mental golf game, to control your emotions and manage the golf course? Probably not.

You can choose to work on your body to improve your game. By that, I mean being involved in a golf specific golf fitness plan that strengthens and stretches the correct muscles you use to swing the club. By doing so, you can enjoy increased flexibility, gain explosive power, eliminate the aches and pains associated with golf, and lower your score.

Any idea which has proved most effective in lowering scores?

You see, most golfers are under the assumption that it is the mechanics, or technical component of their golf swing that is the weakest part of their game. In reality, for most golfers, it is the physical component that needs the work. Improper conditioning leads to an inconsistent swing because the muscles that control the swing are weak. There are very specific muscles and muscle groups that need worked to improve power, consistency, endurance and get rid of that aching back that improper conditioning produces.

Think of it this way. If the rules of golf were changed and they allowed you to move your golf ball 25 yards closer to the green before hitting your second shot, do you think you could lower your score? Would that green be easier to hit than it normally is if you could have that added distance?

With a proper golf fitness program you can do just that. You can increase your distance anywhere from 20-40 yards off the tee, setting you up not just for lower scores but for a more enjoyable round of golf. Not to mention bragging rights in your group. Want to beat your buddies? Of course you do, we all do.

How about you? Ready to begin a new journey on your golf course? A journey to hit it longer, score lower, play more golf and play golf without the stiffness or pain normally associated with the game? Then you need to recognize the importance of golf fitness, and get started on an appropriate golf fitness training program the first chance you get.

Grace Under Fire….(What Would Earl Woods Do With Tiger Now)

The jury is still out on Tiger Woods but the burning question is what would the late Earl Woods do to help his son to recapture the magic…. Should Tiger Woods completely scrap Hank Haney’s swinging style and return to his golf swing under Butch Harmon?

Sources say Hank Haney’s’ swing style may have contributed to Tiger’s injuries and distancing himself from Tiger during his troubles was a last ditch effort to save his career. Be that as it may, Tiger won a lot of tournaments with Haney and in the last 2 years, Tiger has won 44% of his tournaments and finished Top 3 in 61%. So the question is, was Tiger Woods’ swinging better under Butch or Hank?

The fact of the matter is the stats do favor Butch Harmon at least somewhat – Tiger won 8 majors in 5 years under Butch’s watch as a pro, with 3 majors in the most dominating fashion (1997 Masters by 12 strokes, 2000 US Open by 15 strokes, and 2000 Open Championship by 8 strokes). Under Hank Haney, Tiger’s won only 6 majors in 6 years, but none by more than 3 strokes.

So what would Tiger’s father to do to get Tiger back on the winning track? For starters Tiger needs space to recreate himself and another set of eyes he can trust. Clearly Tigers swing is off and his misses are now bi-directional and not easily corrected with his swing style. But tiger has a bigger problem, his current swing is ill matched for his physiology.

Sources says Tiger’s is set to revamp his game again with yet another high profile coach but the question is can Sean Foley deliver the goods? Tiger says he is on board with Foley’s philosophy 100% but is he willing to regress his game and suffer the scorns of mindless critics and debunked fans as he learn a new swing?

How would Tiger’s father weight in on the matter at hand of his son’s decision to go with Foley as the new coach. Earl Wood would give you a cold stare and tell you Tiger is not going through a mid golf crisis he just experimenting with new ways to advance his game. However the price of being a super star is that you life is not you own. If Phil Mickelson or Ernie Els have a bad day on the golf course very little is made of it . Regardless, Tiger is aggressively pursuing his destiny as the greatest golfer of all time and he is not afraid to a little flax from the public.

So what would Tiger Woods’ father advise him to do, this late in the season? Earl Woods would tell him to sit tight for the moment, when fishermen can’t fish they mend their nets and to always remember, mental toughness in the game of golf must be acquired.

*************************** Tiger Woods’ father (Earl Woods) taught Tiger that 80% of a golfers game depends on his mental training. The Beginner’s Guide In Buying Golf Sets When Starting Out

Your dream of becoming a golfer, or should I say a professional golfer, starts from your determination and your passion to live each day being closer to your goal. Of course, at first you will start by being a beginner in this sport. As such, you must know a lot of things first about this game and of equal importance is for you to know the different things that you will see in your golf set.

You will be using different equipment on the golf course and among these are the clubs that you can find in your golf set. These things will be your partner in the game and in a way your victory will rely on them: on how and when you use them. Thus it pays to learn more about these things. Moreover, you are allowed to bring 14 clubs while playing on the golf course, though a golf set can have 14 to 16 clubs. A word of advice for beginners is to be familiar first with some clubs before moving on with the rest.

However, before you even think of buying, you must first know the things that you should look for in your golf set. You should know what are the inclusions in a set. Your golf set should have these clubs: irons, woods, wedges, putters and hybrids. Moreover, you must know that there are different types of irons, woods and wedges.

Most golf club sets will contain these clubs (14 to 16):

*Irons 2-7 (6 clubs) *Woods 3, 5, and 7 (3 clubs) *A driver (1 club) *A pitching wedge and sand wedge (2 clubs) *A hybrid *A putter

Irons are usually used for short shots. There are also two types of irons: the cavity back blade and the forged blade clubs. For a beginner, a cavity back blade is the best choice. Moreover, you should also use a graphite shaft for your irons since it helps in having greater accuracy. On the other hand, stiffer shafts are more of a pro’s iron.

While if you are aiming for longer shots, you can use the woods and/or the drivers since these clubs were engineered for that purpose. For a beginner it would be a better choice to use large head clubs since this will increase the chance of accuracy in a swing.

Putters are usually used on the greens but are also occasionally used in approach shots. Putters are of great use in the field because most often you are going to use these clubs. Most professionals also have different types of putters in their golf set which they use based upon their recent games, as well as other conditions. Moreover, there are four types of putters but most golf sets only have one putter in it. As such, you can try to find all of the types of putters so that you can feel which one is the best for you.

Moving on, your set also needs to have wedges. These clubs are irons but they only have a loft of more than 50 degrees. Pitching, sand and lob are three classifications of wedges. Moreover, they are good to use for shots that are just out of the range of the putters. Pitching wedges and sand wedges are often used by the pros.

Hybrids are said to have the combined qualities of two best clubs, the iron and the wood. Thus, hybrids are highly specialized for great performance in distance control and accuracy. A hybrid set where the long irons (3- and 4-) are replaced with utility club design is the perfect choice for beginners.

Finally, before you go towards the golf course, you still need one thing: your golf bag, unless you can carry the 14 clubs all with your hands. It is a good thing that most golf sets already have golf bags with them, but you still have the liberty to buy your own golf bag or even your own golf cart later on.

What Are The Things To Be Considered When Deciding On A Tennis Racket?

Having the best equipment is important for anyone who’s seriously into sports. That’s why in picking the best one for you, it’s recommended to devote some time for it. In tennis, gripping the best tennis racket during training and on the court is essential. So what are the things you need to put into consideration when looking for one?

A length of 27 in. Is the standard, but there are models that can go as long as 28 in. Or 29 in. Those that are shorter than 27 in. Are suitable for junior players. Needless to say, the longer the equipment, the longer reach is achieved during swings. Likewise, serves are done with much better leverage. But many believe that there’s not much difference between something measuring 27 in. And something measuring 28 in.

Rackets also vary in head sizes, ranging from 85 to 135 square inches. But the most common and often purchased ones are those measuring anywhere from 95 to 110 square inches. Of course the larger the head size, the more hitting power it provides. Likewise, there’s more hitting area so missing the ball is less likely. However, there’s a downside to it as larger head sizes permit the player with less control. Professional players seeking full control go for smaller head sizes.

An inappropriate grip size will prevent any player from focusing 100 percent on the game. Constant fumbling with the grip will definitely affect your confidence on the court. That’s why the right grip is another important consideration. Measuring yours is usually taken by placing a ruler from the middle of your palm to the top of your middle finger.

When it comes to the tag price, a huge factor for it is the material from which the sporting equipment is made of. These days, they come fabricated from materials such as aluminum, graphite, boron and Kevlar. Aluminum ones are usually the cheapest of all, and are the most flexible. Those out of graphite are very popular, and can range anywhere from flexible to stiff. On the other hand, boron and Kevlar can be very stiff, so they’re often not recommendable for beginners.

There are two factors that affect how the equipment feels when you pick it up and swing it. And they are weight and balance. Heavier ones tend to be more powerful and stable. On the other hand, lighter ones are more maneuverable, so a player can swing it much faster. Rackets can come as light as 10 ounces and go as heavy as 14 ounces.

Regarding balance, the equipment can be categorized as either head light or head heavy. Head light ones have more of the weight distributed to the butt. Usually, they weigh anywhere from 11 to 13 ounces, and balanced 1/2 to 1 and 1/2 inches head light. Such helps retain more control. Also, they’re the ones considered as weighted and balanced traditionally, and are preferred by many professional players. On the other hand, head heavy ones have more of the weight distributed to the head.

In choosing the best tennis racket for you, it’s much better if you can demo several different models. Some stores even have spare rooms with ball machines to allow you to test the sporting equipment. With such, it’s easier to go for one which is suited for your playing level and comfort needs.
