Denny Hamlin finishes 7th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Denny finished 7th place this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The 7th place finish didn’t come easy for Denny after having to start from the back after an engine change. This would prove to be even more difficult at a track that was near impossible to pass at.

Denny made it up to a 7th place finish, but it took nearly every lap to do so. Tires barely fell off in lap times and the cars were almost identical due to the tires being so hard. Track position was extremely important in this race, but unfortunately Denny didn’t have any of it.

Denny was struggling being tight otherwise known as “plowing” early in the race. The team never gave up and continued to work on it until the car was feeling good.

Mike Ford made the proper adjustments to quickly get Denny’s tight problem fixed, but went a little to far and Denny actually got loose mid race.

Due to quick work by Denny’s pit crew he was able to maintain and even make up some spots during the race. His pit crew kept him in contention all day.

Denny was up to a race high of 6th towards the end of the race, but over adjustments on the car bit Denny again and he started to get tight, which caused him to fall back to 7th where he would finish.

The #11 FedEx Toyota was extremely strong today at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and with this strong finish they find themselves sitting in 7th position in the points standings only 18 points back from first. This is a far better position then last year when Denny didn’t earn his first top 10 tell Martinsville later in the season.

Avoid The Pain of Golf And Tennis Elbow

When it comes to sports…tennis is one of my favorite ways to stay in shape. If you are one of the many sport enthusiast that play tennis or golf I’m sure you are very familiar with the problem of tennis or golf elbow.

However, there are a lot of common misconceptions floating around about these two injuries. The biggest myth is the notion that only tennis or daily golfers are at risk. The truth is that even the casual athlete and people who never pick up a golf club can suffer these injuries.

Golf and Tennis Elbow – two different injuries

Both golf and tennis elbow are overuse injuries caused by repetitive stress on the muscle tissue of the forearm. But, tennis elbow occurs where the tendons of the forearm attach to the outside of the elbow, while golf elbow occurs on the inside. You will know which condition you have by the location of the pain.

Improper backhand technique in tennis can put undue pressure on the muscle tissue, resulting in inflammation and tiny tears in the tendon. In the game of golf, gripping your club too tightly and regularly swinging with great force are normally the reasons for injury. Other activities, sometimes at home or on the job, can result in one of these conditions. For example, using a screwdriver, raking, painting, weaving and hammering are all repetitive acts that can lead to tennis elbow if you do not listen to your body’s needs.

Here’s How You Can Help Protect Your Elbows!

The way to prevent most athletic injuries is to strengthen the body. Strong muscles are less susceptible to tears and can withstand a certain level of stress. Any exercise that works the forearms, perhaps using light hand weights, will strengthen this area.

Hand in hand with strengthening comes stretching. Flexible muscles and joints are capable of bending and twisting as you play with less risk of strain. Make sure to always warm up and stretch. Another great way to improve flexibility is by taking supplements specially formulated to strengthen joints.

If you currently suffer from tennis or golf elbow, the pain has probably been escalating for several weeks now. Your muscles tissues are inflamed and only rest will give them the chance to recover. If your arm is swollen, ice packs should be applied regularly. Once the swelling goes away, compression may help the injury heal more quickly. Wrap a first aid bandage tightly around the sore area. Forearm splints are another way to keep from straining the injured arm.

When it comes to diet, vitamin supplements, especially omega-3 fatty acids, may be helpful. These healthy fats are known to fight inflammation related to many conditions. If you have a history of tennis or golf elbow, regular supplements could be a good choice. There are many natural solutions to relieve the pain of this injury. Vitalmax has two products that I highly recommend. One is Neuroflex that’s comprised of several herbs along with menthol and camphor and the other is Arthro-Balm consisting of Emu and Eucalyptus oil. Rubbing either of these products into your sore area can relieve the pain due to its anesthetic effect.

Remember that often sport-related injuries need to have plenty of rest so that the inflammation will disappear quickly. Now that you know more about golf and tennis elbow and how to prevent it, you should be able to enjoy your favorite activities without fear. The best advice is to take it easy and stop if you feel any pain. Listening to your body will keep it in sports-ready shape for many years to come.

7th placed Brigham Young Cougars recorded yet another great win in what has been an eye opener of a season for them when they ended the seven match winning streak of the impressive San Diego Aztecs with a comprehensive 80-67 victory at the weekend, taking them to 27-2 and boosting their chances of a what would be potentially a initial ever appearance within the Final Fours.

California’s Best Years In NFL (American Football) 1977-1995

The NFL (American Football) Super Bowl is contested each year by the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). The first three championships in 1967-1969 were known as the ‘AFL-NFL World Championship Game.’ The first ‘Super Bowl’ was not played until 1970, a useful fact to have in mind should the issue come up in a game of trivia. Every member of the team that wins the Super Bowl receives an elaborate and high coveted jewel-encrusted ring.

Between them, the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders brought eight sets of sparkly jewellery to California. San Francisco won the Super Bowl in the years 1982, 1985, 1989, 199 and 1995. The Raiders winning seasons were 1977, 1981 and 1984.

On January 25, 1977, the Oakland Raiders won their first Super Bowl game against the Minnesota Vikings with a score of 32-34. This was Super Bowl XI. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) was wide receiver, Fred Biletnikoff. Snow fell in Miami, Florida, for the first and only time the previous week. The Raiders’ next Super Bowl win was on January 25, 1981, against the Philadelphia Eagles. They won 27-10. This was Super Bowl XV and the MVP was Oakland quarterback, Jim Plunkett. In the same month, the television shows, ‘Dynasty’ and ‘Hill Street Blues’ were first aired.

Later in 1981, the team moved to Southern California to become the Los Angeles Raiders and their home stadium became the Coliseum. In 1984, they won Super Bowl XVIII against the Washington Redskins, beating them 38-9. Running Back, Marcus Allen, was voted MVP.

In Super Bowl XVI in 1982, two weeks after undergoing spinal surgery for a herniated disc, Super Bowl XVI’s MVP Joe Montana was throwing touch-down passes and leading the San Francisco 49ers to a 26-21 victory against the Cincinnati Bengals. Also in January 1982, while 75 per cent of the country was covered in snow, Hank Aaron and Frank Robinson were entered into the Baseball Hall of Fame and Bryant Gumbel became the host of NBC’s ‘Today Show’.

The San Francisco 49ers won Super Bowls XXIII, XXI and XXIX. The only American states to come close to California’s record are Pennsylvania, with a total of six championship wins, and Texas, with five.

Equipment for Left-Handed Golf Players

Are you a “lefty” that wants to take up golf? No doubt you’ve had an uphill battle with things in the world designed for right-handed individuals. Well, golf is no exception. You might be asking yourself if there is a real difference in the equipment for left-handed players. Yes, there is a huge difference. A right-handed golf club is angled so when you swing on the left side of the ball (the proper side for right handed players) it goes the proper direction. Therefore, a club for left-handed players is angled in the opposite direction.

The majority of golf players are right-handed (upwards of 90 percent) and therefore equipment is made for them. In fact, on the golf course you’ll probably be teased a bit and told you’re standing on the wrong side of the ball. Don’t let this get you down. If you are left-handed then there are options for you.

The first choice (and least desirable unless you’re ambidextrous) is to play as a right-handed player. This should only be an option if you are able to make a golf swing and putt at the same skill level from the left-handed side. If you’re able to master this then you will have no trouble finding equipment for your golf game.

Buying left-handed golf clubs is a real challenge especially if you live away from a major city with well stocked pro golf shops. You will most likely need to order your equipment; most golf equipment manufacturers have catalogs from which to order or you can search the internet for their website. Either way, you run the risk of not getting the best set of clubs for you since you’re not able to see if they “fit”. Also, when you want to upgrade an individual club (from metal to graphite, for example), you’ll need to have this ordered as well.

Don’t think you can get by with just left-handed drivers and use right-handed putters. Even though putting seems like an easy task, it takes great skill and precision so you’ll need the proper equipment. Don’t practice with the wrong equipment or you’ll just be compensating.

If you are really serious about your game (more than just a weekend warrior) then you’ll want to get a custom made set of clubs. Most pro golf shops offer this service as well as direct from golf equipment manufacturers.

Lastly, don’t listen to those who say that right-handed golfers play better than left-handed ones. Sure, there are statistics but those are skewed since there are so few left-handed golf players to take a proper average. Get the correct equipment and you’ll be playing your best game – even with your left.
